For me this project is born out of 4 years of deep enquiry into why 8 billion people are failing to respond effectively to our planet’s ecological crisis.  And, what to do about that ! 

In the hope of inspiring change I set out to design, live and communicate ways of living that are ecologically positive, fair and honourable, really enjoyable and broadly accessible.  

Having closed a design business following an 'ecological crisis of conscience' I now work as a coach supporting people to move through eco anxiety and climate grief and find a productive role in challenging times.

This is me…, no relevant qualifications, and not a huge amount of community living or food growing experience, but I have a whole lot of heart, wisdom, intellect and determination. Plus I’m good with spreadsheets, visioning, project managing, kindness and cooking.

Forming a new community is a huge undertaking that only comes about through significant labour. I've been happy to hold this pioneering role.

Chris has spent much of his life working for social justice and the environment through his charity OceansWatch. 

Chris has lived in a community ecovillage in New Zealand  for >25 years.

Chris has formed charities internationally and businesses in NZ, so has experience that can help guide our formation. 

Chris’s current passion is rewilding and will focus on land matters in our community.

Chris developed a 100 acre organic farm in NZ and gifted an 80 acre forest reserve to the NZ National Trust. 

He currently shares 300 acres of land in New Zealand where he has planted thousands of trees and is currently developing spaces for Tiny Houses. 

When not working on the land Chris works as a professional yacht captain in the SW Pacific.

Advisor

Leilani is passionate about supporting groups in establishing dynamic, distributed forms of governance (i.e. how we organise and make decisions together). 

She is an experienced facilitator, currently supporting the local Totnes Climate Hub and Transition Streets project and is a long-term activist with local and UK Extinction Rebellion. 

Leilani thrives on connection through profound shared purpose; sacred singing and conscious dance, and has over a decade of lived experience of intentional community.

Advisor

Hamid is a design consultant and facilitator and has a wealth of experience with eco renovation of existing building and small energy efficient new builds.

He was a Transition Towns trainer and was a core member of North Howe Transition Town and has since had some involvement with XR.

He also spent 10 years in academia as a lecturer and researcher.

For most of his life Hamid has lived in communal setups and currently is an active member of Bowden House Community near Totnes.
